Ingfield Manor School for Parents

Description

Ingfield Manor School for Parents is a unique service for families of babies and very young children from birth to five years.  The service works in partnership with parents to educate the young child with cerebral palsy or other motor learning difficulties and allied learning needs.  Solid support and practical advice is provided to parents within an encouraging environment so they can play a key role in the teaching partnership.  The service delivers weekly two and a half hour group sessions or one hour individual sessions as appropriate for each family.

Parents and children learn daily living skills together using the principles of Conductive Education.  The ethos of active learning through play and partnership with parents is central to the practice of School for Parents.

The weekly sessions involve the children in active sitting, standing, stepping, walking, manipulation, communication, social skills, cognitive development and self-help skills. Children are motivated to learn through the use of fun activities, games, songs and stories based on termly topics.
