Family Group Conference

Description

The Family Group Conference (FGC) is a meeting where the parent, family and professionals (such as social worker, family support worker, GP, teacher, health visitor etc.) and a support person (who can speak for the parent if they don't want to) get together to work out a plan for the child/children, to make sure they are kept safe and well cared for.

As part of the changes to the Early Help structure in Surrey County Council, known as Family Resilience, Family Group Conferences (FGC) will move to be located in the Early Help Hub. This is so that FGC can be used with families early in the presentation of a problem. FGCs will continue to be available to children who are subjects of formal child protection processes and in pre-proceedings.
